I got your picture, I’m coming with you

Everyone and their mom is getting a facebook. It’s true. The once college aged site has delt with quite a population burst since it open it’s door to people of all ages. What makes it just so amazing? The world may never know.

    Personally? I love it.

It’s not the apps, nor the status updates that do it for me. I think its more the fact that you can literally comment on everything. I don’t, but I do like the option. Basically the interface is what wins it over for me, although a lot of people who are new are complaining about the confusing system, but once you get it, you got it.

The only app worth mentioning for me, is not mobsters but a realitivly new application called Farm Town.

After only being out for a few months the small little application is getting millions of viewers per day. Holly Geez!!! My own mother is one of those million. Daily and I mean daily she logs on to her facebook just for her farm. She makes plans to check her farm when she gets home. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s a tad bit sickening. The game’s only in it’s beta too, so there’s probably way more coming. I like the game, yes. Do I play it daily? No.

    My Humps?!

Another parody video I found for the song My Humps by The Black Eyed Peas.

Who’s it by? Why Alanis Morissette of course, she kinda shows how stupid the lyrics are.
    Enjoy ;)

    So this is Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone, even to you scrooges out there!

I love that at Christmas time how when your driving there’s absolutely no one on the streets. Okay, I know that’s not really true everywhere but it is here… And I love it!!

I also love Christmas music! My top 3 favorite songs would have to be…. (drum roll please)

    1. Do they know it’s Christmas – band aid
    2. Last Christmas – Wham!
    3. Happy Christmas (War is Over) – John Lennon

I’m pretty sure that my mom’s favorite Christmas song is Last Christmas, which is probably why I love it so much. One of the most engraved Christmas memories I have is drinking hot chocolate on Christmas Eve and dancing to that song with my mom.  And lately every time we hear that song on the radio she quizzes me.

Her: Do you know who sings this song?

    Me: Yes. Wham.

Her: Did you know he was gay?

Me: Yes Mom, you told my like a billion years ago.

Her: Man, he was a heart-throb.

    Me: I know Mom.

Surprisingly I actually like the remake of Last Christmas by Cascada, it kinda fits with a girl singing it and I like the beat. :)

Anyway I need to clean and read The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tonight!

    Later loves,

    Clover

You’re what keeps me believing this world’s not gone dead

    Real quick announcement type thing.

I always *stumble through the web a lot and I find lots of cool things and I end up bookmarking them so that I can blog about them later, but by the end of the night I end up forgetting about it and the really awesome thing never reaches my blog. How sad, right?!

but I may have found a solution to this problem of mine and it’s called Tumblr!!!

Over to the right of here (right above my egg) is the link to my tumblr.

Tumblr is not replacing my blog by any means. It is just going to help me post about minor awesome things I find on the web (i.e. QUOTES!!!

Probably the raddest thing that Tumblr can do  is that I can post directly from my phone, not like massive walls of texts, but like videos and pictures!!

Still though let me stress that this blog is my homebase :) and I’ll never post massive insightful information on my Tumblr. (but on my Tumblr there will still be little snidbits of insightful info)
    :)

Anywho since I’m trying to stop myself from getting an actual cold or anything of the sort I have been chillin’ all day, browsing the internet.

    Here’s a couple bomb things I’ve found.

All-American Rejects can do it better than Britney??!!

    I wanna know your plans

I’m addicted to quotes/lyrics/proverbs they are just so amazing. I’m working on my on little binder full of all my favorites :)
(to get started on it is one of my main winter break goals)

Here are 3 of my favoritest quotes of the moment.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. -Alexander Woollcott

You grieve at the level you loved.
    -Unknown

“Love the moment. Flowers grow out of dark moments. Therefore, each moment is vital. It affects the whole. Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed.” – Corita Kent

There’s a lot more than three but if I was to start sharing all of them we’d be here all day.

Speaking of quotes though wouldn’t these just be the raddest things to get!

    IB playlist part 2

    Track # 8
Slow Me down by Emmy Rossum
“Rushing and racing and running in circles
Moving so fast I’m forgetting my purpose
Blur of the traffic is sending me spinning
    Getting nowhere

My head and my heart are colliding chaotic
Pace of the world I just wish I could stop it
Try to appear like I’ve got it together
    I’m falling apart”

Although this one sure is fairly obvious, let me break it down for you just in case you’re in melt down mode today. Basically it’s about how we try to get so much done within such a small, constricted amount of time yet ultimately we get nowhere.

    Track #9
The Rain Don’t Last Forever by Hope
Emotional breakdown day song, ‘nuff said.

“Sometimes my burdens get so heavy
And it seems too hard to bear
    Sometimes I feel so empty
And it feels like no one’s there
Somebody said that nothing lasts forever
Just the storm so I’ve been told
But it seems that when it rains it pours”

    Track #10
What Do We Know by Thousand Food Krutch
    “What do we know?
    What do we know?
    What do we know?
    What do we know?
    What do we know?
    What do we know?”

    TOK much?

    Track #11
    Going Under by Evanescence
Everything learned in elementary school just doesn’t seem like it fits, especially in history. Have you always been taught the brief condensed, filtered version?

    “I’m going under (going under)
Drowning in you (drowning in you)
    I’m falling forever (falling forever)
    I’ve got to break through
    I’m going under

Blurring and stirring – the truth and the lies.
    (So I don’t know what’s real) So I don’t know what’s real and what’s not (and what’s not)
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can’t trust myself anymore”

    Track #12
Wait for You by Elliott Yamin
The song your dear love one’s sing as your go through 2 years of this.

“So why does your pride make you run and hide?
Are you that afraid of me?
    But I know it’s a lie
    What you keep inside
This is not how you want it to be

So baby I will wait for you
Cause I don’t know what else I can do
Don’t tell me I ran out of time
If it takes the rest of my life”

    Track # 13
Never Too Late by Three Days Grace
The suicidal cry of the IBers
    “Even if I say
    It’ll be alright
    Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
    Now and again we try
    To just stay alive
Maybe we’ll turn it all around
    ‘Cause it’s not too late
    It’s never too late”

    Track #14
    Help! By The Beatles
The Song we all sing deep down.

    “Help, I need somebody,
    Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.”

    Track # 15
    Highway to Hell by ACDC
    True that.
“I’m on a highway to hell
    On the highway to hell
    Highway to hell
I’m on the highway to hell”

    Track #16
Ashes and Wine by A Fine Frenzy
Now this song can easily apply to IB when faced with a certain situation. You and your friend have been through IB all of this time, you even faced the horrors of pre-IB together, and now your friend is leaving, dropping IB!!! 

“Don’t know what to do anymore
I’ve lost the only love worth fighting for
    I’ll drown in my tears
    Don’t let him see
That would show you, that would make you hurt like me

    All the same
    I don’t want mudslinging games
    It’s just a shame
    To let you walk away”

    Track # 17
    Poison by Groove Coverage
    IB enjoys watching us suffer.

    “Your cruel device
    your blood, like ice
    One look, could kill
    My pain, your thrill…”

    Track # 18
You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban
Friends of yours will raise your spirits when you feel down and out. They will help you feel better about not finishing an assignment, having to redo the world lit paper, and the other pressures that you will feel through the course of this program. Always remember IB is like one giant family, we care but we still are always in competition with each other. 

    “When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
    When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

    You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
    You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
    I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.”

    Track # 19
    Pain by Three Days Grace
If IB was a person this is the song it would sing. It would sing it loud and proud showing us all that’s screwed up in the world.

    “You’re sick of feeling numb
    You’re not the only one
I’ll take you by the hand
And I’ll show you a world that you can understand
This life is filled with hurt
    When happiness doesn’t work
Trust me and take my hand
When the lights go out you’ll understand”

    Track #20
Won’t Back Down by Tom Petty
Well your still in IB right? Well then this song is self-explanatory.

“Well I wont back down, no I wont back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
    But I wont back down

Gonna stand my ground, wont be turned around
And Ill keep this world from draggin me down
Gonna stand my ground and I wont back down”

    Track #21
Stand My Ground by Within Temptations
Goes along with the last one, but I figured you might need two songs like this in a row just for moral support.

“Though this might just be the ending
of the life I held so dear
but I won’t run, there’s no turning back from here

Stand my ground, I won’t give in
No more denying, I gotta face it
Won’t close my eyes and hide the truth inside
If I don’t make it, someone else will
    Stand My Ground”

    Track #22
    Runaway By Groove Coverage
Now the first part kinda goes along with Runaway by Cartel, but with a more techno-ish beat.

    “I want to runaway
As long as you are by my side
    I’m singin’
    OoO I try to runaway
But I can’t find a place to hide

Now the second part on the other hand is very important when faced with IB. Do not lose your individuality in this program, don’t become another homework zombie. Show IB whose boss! Take command and get control. You can do it.

    No, I am not
    Turning down my voice
    Until you understand
    There’s nothing to command
    Until you realize
That we can touch the skies
    Can you feel?
    It’s out of control
    Can you feel?
    There’s nothing at all”

    IB playlist

    The first 7 songs :)

    Track #1

    Manic Monday by The Bangles

Everyone can relate to this song, those Mondays where you just don’t want to get out of bed… not wanting the weekend to end.

    “It’s just another manic Monday
    I wish it was Sunday
    ‘Cause that’s my funday
My I don’t have to runday
    It’s just another manic Monday”

    Track #2

In the End by Linkin Park

This one should be pretty obvious, the pointlessness of IB and how some nights there are just breakdowns. Maybe deep down IB is trying to make us become more like Meursault.

    “I tried so hard
    And got so far
    But in the end
    It doesn’t even matter
    I had to fall
    To lose it all
    But in the end
    It doesn’t even matter

    Track # 3

A Hard Days Night by The Beatles

A more optimistic outlook on the fact that IBers are all sleep deprived and overworked.

It’s been a hard day’s night, and I’ve been working like a dog
It’s been a hard day’s night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
    Will make me feel alright

    Track # 4

    Runaway by Cartel

You can run and hide from the looming work, but lets be honest it won’t do you any good.

“Buried covered now, you’ll find peace – in the earth aground.
Stop now, there’s no point in breathing – it’s not allowed.
On the surface, how can you find – reason to move on?

    Until then you can runaway.
Do you best to hide your face.
    And oh I know you best;
I know you get what you get – you get what you deserve.

    Track # 5

Six Feet From the Edge by Creed

This song is about a man who is dying and trying to stay alive “holding onto all I think is safe”.  Just think slowly drowning in homework, an iop, a world lit paper, science labs, last minute history projects. Slowly we can see our decline, our grades, our social lives, and yet we still try to maintain it all.

More into the depth of this song, it talks about how he was going nowhere and is trying to escape.  We try so hard to keep on task with everything, trying so hard to escape from the evils of procrastination.

The last part of the song he thinks that he can go on, “but I still believe there’s something there for me,” but he’s down to his last breath. There’s a reason for IB, there’s gotta be something in there for each of us, right?

    Hold me now
I’m six feet from the edge and I’m thinking
    That maybe six feet
    Ain’t so far down

    Track # 6

Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy

The meaning most people see from this song is about a romance that was never formed, the girl was given so many false signals. She becomes determined to leave it all behind and move on, although is still hung up on the almost romance and feels rather indignant towards the guy, not out of genuine dislike, but out of hurt over what has happened. She wants to work it out deep in her heart, even though she knows that’s she’s better moving on.

Now turn and apply this to IB. The students were given so many false signals, so many lies. The students become determined to leave IB and quit, move on, but are still hung up on certain attachments to it. The students feel rather huffed up towards IB but not out of hate for the thing in general just out of what it has done, and what it gives out. No matter what thought the students will try to figure something out, someway to survive the course, even though it would be better for our gpa, sanity, social life, health, ect… to move on.

    “Goodbye, my almost lover
    Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I’m trying not to think about you
Can’t you just let me be?
    So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should’ve known you’d bring me heartache
    Almost lovers always do

    Track # 7

Harder, Better, Faster by Daft Punk

Admit it; this song is like some sort of IB motto.

“Work it harder, make it better
Do it faster, makes us stronger
More than ever hour after hour
    Work is never over

    When darkness turns to light.

I have wanted to kill myself a hundred times, but somehow I am still in love with life. This ridiculous weakness is perhaps one of our more stupid melancholy propensities, for is there anything more stupid than to be eager to go on carrying a burden which one would gladly throw away, to loathe one’s very being and yet to hold it fast, to fondle the snake that devours us until it has eaten our hearts away?”
